6 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing Marangu Route Starting From $1,587/Person

Price for 6 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing Marangu Route / Rates Per Person:

Day to Day Itinerary


Arrival Day

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) greeted by a friendly Gypsy Tours representative, transfer comfortably to your accommodation at Keys Hotel in Moshi (overnight stay with breakfast).


Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut (5-6 hours, 11 km)

Meet your guide and support crew for a pre-trek briefing at the hotel.

Travel to Marangu Gate, the park entrance, and begin your trek through a lush rainforest (prepare for rain!).

Reach Mandara Hut (2,720 meters) for your first night at altitude. Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol/caffeine.

Acclimatization Tip: Consider using altitude medication to ease potential altitude sickness symptoms.


Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (6 hours, 11 km)

Enjoy breakfast followed by a scenic trek to Horombo Hut (3,720 meters).

Witness breathtaking views of Kibo and Mawenzi volcanoes.

Embark on an afternoon acclimatization hike towards Kibo Hut (200m elevation gain) before returning to Horombo Hut for dinner.


Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut

After breakfast, ascend towards Kibo Hut for another acclimatization hike and return to camp.

Spend the afternoon exploring the area, relaxing, or preparing for the summit push.


Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (4-8 hours, 10 km)

Ascend to Kibo Hut (4,720 meters) after breakfast.

Maintain a moderate pace to conserve energy for the summit climb.

Enjoy lunch and rest upon reaching Kibo Hut, focusing on hydration and sleep.


Day 5: Summit Day! Uhuru Peak and Descent to Horombo Hut (9-12 hours, 16 km)

Depart Kibo Hut pre-dawn and begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), Africa's highest point.

Each climber will be paired with a personal guide for the challenging yet rewarding summit push.

Descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut.

Important Note: Be extra cautious during the descent to avoid injuries.


Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate and Departure (5-6 hours, 18 km)

Enjoy breakfast and descend to Marangu Gate, the park exit.

Celebrate with your fellow climbers and receive summit certificates.

Relax at Panama Garden Resort (overnight stay with lunch included) before transferring to the airport for your departure.


Additional Notes

  • Remember to bring appropriate gear for all weather conditions.
  • Maintain a slow and steady pace throughout the climb to aid acclimatization.
  • Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
  • Be aware of the risks of altitude sickness and inform your guide if you experience any symptoms.


Departure: Hotel check-out is at 11:00 AM. Late check-out options are available (additional fees may apply).
